As always, we’re being inundated with requests from newspapers and magazines, looking for people with stories to tell. So if you’ve ever thought: “Maybe I should sell my story” check out this list:

* A national magazine wants to know why people find it so hard to let go of electrical items. They chuck out other clutter but simply can’t part with old mobile phones or digital cameras.

* A weekly women’s magazine wants to speak to a woman who has had an abortion after IVF. It follows recent news that 80 women a year abort a baby conceived through IVF.

* Another weekly magazine is looking for real-life case studies of sibling rivalry: Stories of major disputes between brothers and sisters, of siblings at war, fallings out, rivalry over loves, competitiveness and more.

* A women’s magazine is looking for a man who lost loads of weight, underwent plastic surgery or had a gastric band for a big white wedding – while his bride was none too bothered.

* The BBC wants to talk to a young shopping addict (no older than 25) who would be interested in talking to them about their problem.

* Another TV company is seeking young couples, preferably aged 16-17 who plan to wed soon.

My ID card is now a worthless piece of plastic

THE controversial ID card is being scrapped.

Angela was the first member of the public to buy one, for £30, when they were launched last year.

Now her piece of plastic will be worthless.

Court battle for M-way crash Good Samaritan

Here’s a story from SellThatStory that can’t fail to provoke a reaction. David Tolley dashed across a motorway to rescue a driver who’d crashed, and to move her car so there wouldn’t be a pile-up.

He was struck by two vehicles, thrown 35ft along the carriageway and left in wheelchair, virtually paralysed below the chest.

Insurance companies tried to claw back up to a third of his compensation settlement, claiming he was partly to blame.

It’s the first known case of insurers challenging a “rescuer” over liability. The judge ruled in favour of David. He was represented in his legal battle by Ed Fletcher who himself suffered a spinal cord injury in a motorbike accident.

David’s story appeared in the Daily Mail, Daily Express, Daily Telegraph and Daily Mirror.

Corrie’s Michelle Keegan tells us of her cancer heartache

Michelle Keegan, voted Britain’s sexiest soap star, opened her heart to SellThatStory and told of her secret cancer heartache.

Her gran was diagnosed with “the secret killer” – ovarian cancer. And though Michelle, 22, kept it secret from her Coronation Street colleagues, she says it helped her act some of her most tearful scenes as on-screen dad Joe McIntyre lost his fight for life.

Families on benefits and IVF blunders

If you’re a family living on benefits, the last thing you might be thinking is: “How do I sell my story?”

But a women’s magazine is seeking a couple, with at least two children, prepared to talk frankly and honestly about why they are on benefits – and why they think they deserve to be on them.

Also, if you’ve been the victim of an IVF blunder are prepared to be identified, a national newspaper would like to hear your story.

IVF blunders – lost embryos, mis-matched eggs and sperm, embryos given to the wrong couple – have risen by 85 per cent in the last year.
