My ID card is now a worthless piece of plastic

Angela was the first member of the public to buy one, for £30, when they were launched last year.

Now her piece of plastic will be worthless.

Angela is first in UK to get ID card

Angela today became the first member of the public in the UK to get her ID card.

But it nearly didn’t happen – because of a plaster on her finger.

Angela had burned her fingers preparing roast potatoes.  And the scanner taking her dabs couldn’t read her fingerprint properly through the plaster.

She’s been an outspoken supporter of the controversial £4.7 billion scheme, although the Tories say they’ll ditch the cards  it if they win power in the General Election.
