Four boys, desperate for a girl?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Another busy week with a shed load of requests for stories from newspapers and magazines.

A national newspaper is looking for women who have suffered gender disappointment. Last week’s Cutting Edge TV programme featured women who have had four or more boys and are longing for a girl.  The newpaper is looking for others in a similar situation.

A weekly women’s magazine is looking for spooky love stories, such as a woman who found love through a psychic, tarot reader, astrologist.

A tabloid newspaper wants to hear from ordinary women in situations similar to the partners of John Terry and Avram Grant – women whose partners may have slept either with a friend or with a prostitute.

Ideally one would have forgiven her partner  the other wouldn’t.

Have you got over your first love?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Holding_handsSeems love is in the air, as lots of newspapers and magazines are looking for stories about relationships this week.

A Sunday tabloid supplement wants to know if you’re a woman in her twenties who finally got over her first love.  A lot of people take a long time to do this, but they’re looking for someone who managed to get past that first romantic hurdle and is now happy with their partner.

On a saucier note, a weekly women’s magazine is looking for couples under 40 who have done ‘unusual’ things to spice up their love life. Need we say more … ?

And finally, a Sunday newspaper is looking to interview a polygamous family for a real-life feature to tie in with the law change.

• A weekly women’s magazine is looking for funny pantomime stories – where something really mad happened – from women aged  18 to 35.

 • Do you have three generations of young mothers from in the same family – grandma, mother and daughter – who can all talk about having children in their teenage years and about being brought up by a young mother? For a women’s weekly magazine.

• Are you aged 15 to 20? Would you like to tell a women’s weekly magazine what it’s like to be the oldest sibling in a family of six children or more – particularly if you loved or hated being the oldest.

All you need is love

sell-that-story-pick-me-up

There are a couple of great  heart-warming stories in this week’s women’s magazines.  They’re about people who’ll do literally anything for those they love.

First up is Pete Winters, who gave his partner Pat the best gift imaginable – a kidney! The couple tell their story in this week’s Pick Me Up (12 November) or click here to read it and see pictures.

Pat was on dialysis. Pete insisted he’d manage with one kidney and give her the other.  She returned the favour with a Leap Day marriage proposal.

Then there’s the remarkable story of Jaci Dalenberg who, aged 56, gave birth to her own grandchildren – triplets!

This week’s Real People (12 November) tells how her daughter Kim couldn’t have children because of a hysterectomy, so she got doctors to “turn back the clock” and offered herself as a surrogate.

So she’s not just mum to little Gabriella Claire, Carmina Ann and Elizabeth Jacilyn. She’s also their grandma.

These are both stories to inspire.  Maybe something’s happened to you that would give others that same sense of  “all you need is love”. Something remarkable, something heart-warming.

Let us know at Sell That Story and we’ll show you how easy it can be to get that story into print, and earn yourself some cash.  You can email info@sellthatstory.com or phone us on 0161 660 9404.
