Have you “done a Myleene?”

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

myleene-klassDid you read about Myleene Kass being reprimanded by police for waving a knife at an intruder ?

A weekly women’s magazine wants to hear from a have-a-go hero – though it must be a woman –  who was subsequently cautioned by the police because of their actions, as long as they acted reasonably and not too aggressively.

If you know someone who fits the bill, let us know and we can sell that story for you!

If the question’s “How do I sell my story?” then the answer’s just a click away.

Has the recession made you shoplift?

shoplift-bottleMiddle class shoplifters really are in the news.

I was paying for my shopping in Manchester city centre only last week when an assistant came in all out of breath.

She’d been chasing a shoplifter who helped himself to a bottle of organic malt whisky, which she’d managed to retrieve from him. ORGANIC WHISKY. You don’t get more middle class than that!

The Daily Mail this week reports that middle class shoplifting is up a fifth year on year, totalling £4.88bn.

Whether that figure is anything like true is anyone’s guess.  And quite how they measure middle classness is a bit of a mystery.

But it does raise interesting questions – about the recession and whether “law-abiding” folk are tempted to “relax” their morals in times of need. For groceries, for clothes, for that little luxury.

If you want to come clean and tell us your own story of middle class shoplifting  – even if you can only do so anonymously –  call Angela or John at Sell That Story on 0161 660 9404 or email info@sellthatstory.com
