Looking after brothers and sisters?

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

mum-holding-baby-handSeems the snow doesn’t slow down newspapers and magazines when it comes to looking for people to interview and stories to cover.

* A Sunday supplement is searching for a young woman who is now caring for her siblings after her parents have died or are otherwise unable to look after them. She must have been granted custody of her siblings and allow them to be named and pictured. Ideally aged 18-25.

* A weekly woman’s magazine is working on a feature about obesity and how the problem is spreading into funerals. Bigger coffins / larger burial plots etc. They want to hear from anybody who has buried an overweight relative whose size affected their funeral. They would also like to speak to anyone who is severely overweight and worried about the problems their size could cause to a funeral and the affect this could have on their family.

* And finally, as Valentine’s Day approaches, do you have a heart-warming romantic proposal to tell us about ? If so, let us know!

Have you got over your first love?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Holding_handsSeems love is in the air, as lots of newspapers and magazines are looking for stories about relationships this week.

A Sunday tabloid supplement wants to know if you’re a woman in her twenties who finally got over her first love.  A lot of people take a long time to do this, but they’re looking for someone who managed to get past that first romantic hurdle and is now happy with their partner.

On a saucier note, a weekly women’s magazine is looking for couples under 40 who have done ‘unusual’ things to spice up their love life. Need we say more … ?

And finally, a Sunday newspaper is looking to interview a polygamous family for a real-life feature to tie in with the law change.

If you think you might fit the bill or know someone who does, call Angela or John on 0161 660 9404 or email info@sellthatstory.com

All you need is love

sell-that-story-pick-me-up

There are a couple of great  heart-warming stories in this week’s women’s magazines.  They’re about people who’ll do literally anything for those they love.

First up is Pete Winters, who gave his partner Pat the best gift imaginable – a kidney! The couple tell their story in this week’s Pick Me Up (12 November) or click here to read it and see pictures.

Pat was on dialysis. Pete insisted he’d manage with one kidney and give her the other.  She returned the favour with a Leap Day marriage proposal.

Then there’s the remarkable story of Jaci Dalenberg who, aged 56, gave birth to her own grandchildren – triplets!

This week’s Real People (12 November) tells how her daughter Kim couldn’t have children because of a hysterectomy, so she got doctors to “turn back the clock” and offered herself as a surrogate.

So she’s not just mum to little Gabriella Claire, Carmina Ann and Elizabeth Jacilyn. She’s also their grandma.

These are both stories to inspire.  Maybe something’s happened to you that would give others that same sense of  “all you need is love”. Something remarkable, something heart-warming.

Let us know at Sell That Story and we’ll show you how easy it can be to get that story into print, and earn yourself some cash.  You can email info@sellthatstory.com or phone us on 0161 660 9404.
